Mission Statement The Wall of Fame awards will recognize and honor outstanding achievements of individual athletes, coaches, and community members who have contributed to the promotion and growth of athletics in the D.C. Everest School District. This award will provide the public with a display of athletic accomplishments by people who have been instrumental in creating an excellent athletic tradition in the D.C. Everest School District.
Athletic Wall of Fame Committee By-Laws 1. General Function
2. Membership on the Athletic Wall of Fame Committee will be non-elected and appointed as follows:
The committee will meet twice during the first year and once each year thereafter. Special meetings may be called at the chair’s discretion.
3. The Athletic Director and High School Principal shall appoint members of the committee. The members will serve a two or three-year term, which can be continuous. Failure to meet with the committee on two consecutive meetings may result in removal from the committee and a new member will be appointed.
Membership Athletes 1. The person must be an alumnus of D.C. Everest High School. 2. Eligible persons must have earned at least one varsity letter while attending D.C. Everest High School. 3. Moral character, good citizenship, and academic performance during high school and post high school years shall be a consideration. 4. Nominees into the D.C. Everest Wall of Fame shall have graduated a minimum of ten years ago. 5. Although athletic achievement while attending D. C. Everest High School is of prime importance, outstanding accomplishments after leaving D.C. Everest High School will also be considered. 6. No member of the committee will be eligible for induction while serving on the committee.
Coaches 1. Three years must elapse after completion of their tenure as a coach at D.C. Everest School District before consideration is given for selection. They must have retired from the coaching profession or be 55 years of age or older. 2. Demonstration of good character and citizenship will be considered. 3. No member of the committee will be eligible for induction while serving on the selection committee. 4. Factors that will influence selection of a coach:
Community Members 1. For those individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the D.C. Everest Athletic Program. 2. Length of time they have contributed to the D.C. Everest Athletic Program will be considered. 3. Projects that have made an impact on the Athletic Program for the D.C. Everest School District. 4. Demonstration of good character and citizenship will be considered. 5. Continued support of the D.C. Everest Athletic Program. 6. No member of the committee will be eligible for induction while serving on the selection committee.
Awards, Rights and Privileges of Membership 1. Membership is lifetime. 2. Shall be presented during half time of the Homecoming Game (except for the first year when it will be presented at the first open game). 3. Two uniform plaques shall be awarded to honor each inductee. One plaque shall be presented to the inductee and the other shall be placed for display on the D.C. Everest Wall of Fame. 4. Inductees will receive a lifetime gold pass to all D.C. Everest athletic events good for all contests except WIAA tournament events.
Nomination Anyone may submit a completed nomination form to the athletic director for consideration. All nominations will remain on file for five years from the date submitted. After five years, nominations must be resubmitted and will be considered annually by the selection committee along with new nominations.
All nominations must be on file by May 31st. The nominator must gather pertinent information on the nominee and inform them of such; so as to make sure they are willing to receive the award if selected. The nominator will be responsible to meet the deadlines set forth by the committee.
The Athletic Wall of Fame will have a maximum of ten inductees the first year, of which no more than six can be athletes. Every year thereafter, there will be a maximum of four inductees, of which no more than three can be athletes.
Donors and Contributions The Wall of Fame Committee will set up a Student Association Fund in the high school for Wall of Fame donations and contributions.
Timetable
*The first year, awards will presented at the first open home football game with the exception of parents night due to the time needed for the Wall of Fame Program.
By-Law Revision The Wall of Fame will be displayed on the outside of the high school fieldhouse doors.
Information about the Wall of Fame will be distributed via the Wausau Daily Herald, radio stations, Everest Alumni Newsletter, D.C. Everest website home page, and by word-of-mouth. Nomination forms will be available at the D.C. Everest Administration Building, D.C. Everest High School Front Office, and the D.C. Everest website home page. All nominations will be submitted to the Athletic Director.
A quorum at the Wall of Fame Committee meeting is needed to act on the nominations. A quorum shall be the majority of the total membership of the committee members.
Amendments to the D.C. Everest School District Athletic Wall of Fame By-Laws shall be voted upon by the Athletic Wall of Fame committee members at the selection meeting. Amendments receiving two-thirds majority vote from the eligible Athletic Wall of Fame committee members shall be adopted.
